The beauty and charm of lacquer lie in its ability to transform into a variety of textures. Driven by a passion to convey this appeal, Takao Togashi has developed a diverse range of techniques and continues to create highly imaginative works. In this exhibition, he is expanding his collection of new works featuring the beautiful, deep luster of “Aizu Tamamushi-nuri,” while also showcasing a wide variety of lacquer finishes, including “Shibunichi-nuri” with its metallic sparkle and white lacquer with its soft, delicate appearance. He is also placing a new emphasis on tea ceremony utensils. We also have a wide selection of other items—such as sake vessels, serving trays, and small boxes—that you can enjoy seeing and using in your daily life. We invite you to explore Togashi’s world, which expands the boundaries of artistic expression.
