While upholding the 800-year-old tradition of Bizen ware, the challenge lies in exploring new horizons. This exhibition features the works of three ceramic artists – Takashi Baba, Syo Fujita, and Taiga Mori – with a focus on their recent artistic endeavors aimed at uncovering hints for innovation. Baba, known for the popular “Yohen Blue” series, presents lustrous Shino pieces using Bizen clay. Fujita utilizes the purest ceramic stone mined in Bizen for his new creations in the pristine “White Bizen” series. Mori, on the other hand, showcases impactful sculptural pieces such as objects with inscribed characters. The diverse collection encompasses a range of works, from sake ware and tableware to tea bowls, and flower vases. Immerse yourself in the exploration of the new frontier of Bizen ware at this exhibition and witness the artists’ unwavering dedication to both tradition and innovation.
