Okawachiyama in Imari City is a hidden kiln village surrounded by beautiful nature. In this area where Nabeshima ware is being made, Hataman Touen has been around in the pottery industry throughout four generations, inheriting traditional Nabeshima techniques while boldly taking on the challenge of creating new products for the next generation. In this exhibition, you will be able to see many potteries that Hataman Touen have produced since its founding in 1926, showcasing the transition of its succession and innovation throughout the years. We hope you will be able to feel the spirit of Hataman Touen that resides in pottery of all ages. During the exhibition, there will also be a table setting display donned with Hataman Touen’s potteries for all to see, arranged by Yumiko Sato, the space coordinator.
