We will be holding an exhibition of the works of Ryosuke Ando, a ceramic artist based in Seto, Aichi Prefecture. Ando deliberately incorporates the use of molds that are often used for mass production, and utilizes them in his creative process. After forming the pieces with molds, he adds carvings and deformations by hand to create continuity and character, while pursuing his own aesthetic form. For the first time, we will also showcase his works that reuse scraps of clay produced during the trimming process which is called “kude clay” in Seto. We hope you will pay attention to Ando’s efforts to breathe new life into what would usually be considered waste, and enjoy the exhibition.
