Born in the Edo period, Hagi ware has continued to evolve across two primary hubs in Yamaguchi Prefecture: Hagi City and Nagato City. This exhibition introduces the works of Eiichi Shibuya and Takao Tahara, two artists who are carving out new paths in contemporary ceramics through their unique sensibilities. Shibuya, based in Hagi, presents his signature series, Chi no Utsuwa (Vessels of Earth) \u2014 which captures the passage of time \u2014 alongside new works where soft textures and modern forms resonate with one another. Tahara, carrying on the lineage of Fukawa-Hagi in Nagato, showcases the elegant flexibility of Hagi ware through his original glaze expressions, such as Ryuhaku glaze and Iron glaze. From tableware and vases that color daily life and professional culinary spaces to sculptural objects and tea utensils imbued with the weight of history, we invite you to enjoy the expansive charm of modern Hagi ware.<\/span><\/p>\n
