“Inherit the Lacquer” – Echizen Lacquerware, Shitsurindo Exhibition

Established in 1793, Shitsurindo has been engaged in the lacquer industry for generations in Sabae City, Fukui Prefecture, which is the production area of Echizen lacquerware. They produce the original lacquerware that is novel and fits well into our everyday life, while inheriting the beautiful and robust lacquerware production cultivated in their manufacturing of products for professional-use.

In this exhibition, we introduce Shitsurindo’s diverse works by showcasing new dishwasher-safe lacquerware and soup bowls made from Echizen handmade Japanese paper, and lacquerware for restaurants. Additionally, some Kintsugi works by the in-house artisan will be exhibited. Please visit us and share the outstanding beauty of this hand-painted lacquer.
