DESCRIPTION:As the fourth generation of the Seto sometsuke kiln “Shingama,” Mayuki Kato carries on traditional techniques of blue and white porcelain while creating works infused with a modern sensibility. Her brushwork skillfully depicts the front and back of flowers and their shadows through nuanced shades of cobalt blue (gosu), resembling paintings brought to life on porcelain surfaces.
